Earlier this week, as part of P/O/N’s ongoing “hour community” project, I had the pleasure of visiting Miami Valley Career Technology Center and spent the morning working with a group of 40 student ambassadors. My job was to teach them how to construct an elevator speech.
The exercise focused on helping the students easily articulate why MVCTC is such a valuable part of the Dayton region, how it differs from traditional high school, and why those who choose to go there benefit from the decision – all in a 15 second speech.
The students were creative, energetic, and really put their heart into the exercise. They developed some great elevator speeches, which they will soon be using as they visit schools across the region to talk about their experiences at MVCTC. I left the session thoroughly impressed by this exceptional group of young adults. If this group is representative of the future of Dayton, we are in very good hands.
Thank you to the staff of MVCTC for the opportunity to teach, learn, and have fun. You continue to amaze me with everything you do for our community. You are preparing our youth for success and creating the workforce of a vibrant tomorrow. I hope that you and the students enjoyed the morning as much as I did.
