Google Hits the Road

Seems like it’s only a matter of time before before the big tech companies are buying our meals, storing our health records, and… driving our cars?

It’s no secret that Google’s business model means that the vast majority of its earnings are pure profit. What the company does with those profits varies, but a chunk of it goes into R&D for various pet projects at the company. Their latest project revolves around creating a driverless fleet of cars. That’s right – cars that can drive themselves.

This isn’t the only driving-related project they’re working on. The company is partnering with BMW to create a feature in Google maps that allows you to send a Google map directly to your car’s GPS system. Pair these technologies together, and you’ve got an experience that goes from “Just click and drive” to, simply “Just click.”

It does make me wonder how many other daily tasks Google working to solve with just one click….
