Stickers, Filters and More: How to Harness Instagram’s Latest Updates for your Business

When it was first introduced in 2010, Instagram was a little-known photo sharing app. Today, Instagram (now owned by Facebook) is one of the most popular apps available, with more than 600 million monthly users. 50% of users follow at least one business on Instagram, which is why more businesses are using the platform to ramp up marketing efforts. So, whether you’re hoping to harness the power of Instagram to promote your brand or just for fun, here are some of the latest updates on the app.

Hashtag stickers

Instagram stories just got a little more creative with the introduction of hashtag stickers. Now when users watch your story, they’ll be prompted to click on the hashtag, which redirects them to a page where they can explore related posts. It’s a great way to not only raise brand awareness but to encourage your followers to engage by your original hashtag.

Snapchat-inspired filters

Instagram is taking advantage of Snapchat’s viral idea by offering eight new filters for Instagram stories, including animals, glasses and different types of crowns. The feature can be used with either the front and back camera. Show off your brand’s unique personality by using Instagram stories to capture fun, laidback content, such as behind-the-scenes pictures or videos.

Instagram collections

With Instagram collections, users can compile saved posts into one handy location, making them easier to find and revisit anytime. Collections are private, so you can’t see what other users save, and you aren’t notified with they save your content. You can use collections to save user-generated content related to your brand such as photos from users who posted with your hashtag. You can also use collections to gather inspiration, much like a Pinterest board.
