Hour Community: ARTSGALA

Walter and I recently participated in the ARTSGALA Event at Wright State University on Saturday, April 10th to help raise money to support students of fine and performing arts.

Over the last ten years, ARTSGALA has established itself as one of the area’s premier arts evenings. More than 550 individuals attend this event each year. Patrons are invited to participate in a silent auction for a variety of dining, travel, and specialty items while enjoying a night of incredible entertainment from the university’s performers.

The talent provided for the event was nothing short of fabulous. From piano players who played without music sheets to night club performers, painters, to a segment from the hit play The Pajama Game, the amazing talent and energy of these performers and their professors was second to none.

Although the event is enjoyable to attend in and of itself, our real purpose was to help fund student scholarships at Wright State. All net proceeds from the event go directly to students at Wright State majoring in fine and performing arts.

In the ten years the benefit has been held, ARTSGALA has collected more than $1 million in scholarship support. Inspiring the arts in our community has always been a passion of mine, and I’m pleased to hear the success stories of students who have benefited from these scholarships – and gone on to benefit our community.
