Our creative team at P|O|N chose to give back last month to “For Love of Chidlren” (FLOC), an organization whose mission is to educate and empower disadvantaged children.
Senior Art Directors Andy Kittles and Gary Haschart and Graphic Designer Jason Hart and his wife Tracie Hart participated in FLOC’s annual holiday project, “Christmas for the kids.” This project provides new toys and gifts to thousands of children in the foster care system each year. This year, the organization was on track to give out 7,500 toys, 3,000 hats, scarves, mittens, gloves, and 2,500 stockings.
The team volunteered for “teen” day, where the teens come in to the organization to shop for themselves for the holiday. Each teen received a large, medium, and small gift as well as a stocking full of goodies. They were also invited to stay for pizza, drinks, and dessert afterward. For most of these children, this was the only holiday they would have this year.
The team helped stock shelves, assist teens with “shopping” and also helped teens and their guardians take gifts out to their cars as necessary. They also assisted FLOC’s team shut down the store for the evening.
Gary says, “It was great to see the smiles on their faces when they picked out the gifts.”
“It was nice to take some time out of the holiday rush to help others,” says Jason.
The whole team agreed that it felt great to give their time to help out the community, especially children.
