On April 17th, members of the P/O/N team participated in the North Main Street Clean-Up project sponsored by the North Main Street Business Association, Montgomery County Solid Waste, and FROC Priority Board Neighborhoods. Participants from P/O/N included Helen Mumaw, Walter Ohlmann, Audrey Leonard, David Bowman, and Gary Haschart.
Benefits to the community with these types of projects are many. Having clean streets can boost morale in the neighborhood and improve outside perception of an area. A clean, well-maintained neighborhood also gives the community a sense of pride and inspires more investment and development in the area.
According to Gary Haschart, one of our Senior Art Directors here at P/O/N, many people honked at the group as they worked and stopped to say, “Thank you for cleaning up!” as they drove up Main Street.
“It felt good Monday when I drove up Main Street and didn’t see all the litter lying around,” said Gary.
Big thanks to everyone who participated in the North Main Street Clean-Up. There are many projects like this in your community. Check your local event calendars… or your city’s Twitter feed! If you’re part of a business association, suggest such an event for the neighborhood where you do business. This is a great way to give back.
