It’s no secret that everybody’s looking for a good way to improve their Google search rankings and positive online reviews and mentions. It turns out that Google loves content. Reviews, mentions, and links to your business websites all help your business rise above the competition in search.

But how do you get great content that isn’t just corporate-generated spam? (the WORST kind of content!)


Ask your customers for help.

Every brand has  loyal brand evangelists who love to tell the world about the great experience they had with the brand. Often, you’re already sending these evangelists email messages on deals and promotions, or connecting with them on Twitter and Facebook or other social platforms. Why not ask them to share their positive experiences? Beyond sharing their experiences on Twitter and Facebook, they can share them directly with Google through Google maps and places.

Here’s how they can do it:

3)   Click “more info” next to your business’s place name

4)   Scroll down and click “rate and review”

5)   Write and submit their review of your business

That’s it!

Offering your loyal fans some goodies or discounts coupons for sharing what they think (good, bad, or indifferent) is a great way to encourage more participation. Free t-shirts, mugs, flash drives, coupons – whatever you have on hand. Have them send you a link to their review to confirm that they posted it, and reward them.
