Support small businesses on Saturday

This Saturday is Small Business Saturday ®, a day to support small businesses in our community during one of the busiest shopping periods of the year. Many local small businesses hold special events or offer discounts on Saturday, so consider shopping small this weekend!

Go ice skating at Riverscape MetroPark

It’s opening weekend for Dayton’s largest outdoor skating rink at Riverscape MetroPark. Bring the entire family for a fun day of skating under the covered pavilion on the banks of the Great Miami River in downtown Dayton.

Check out the 2017 Dayton Holiday Festival

New in marketing:

Twitter extends character limit on display names

Following Twitter’s announcement to expand the character limit on Tweets from 140 to 280 characters, Twitter announced this week that display names can now be up to 50 characters in length. Display names (not user names, which are still limited to 15 characters) are displayed on users’ profile pages. The update will allow users to include extra names or even emojis in their display name.

Augmented-reality at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Each year, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade seems to get bigger and better than ever. Last year, Verizon and NBCUniversal partnered to livestream the annual event, featuring a 360-degree view of the parade on YouTube. This year, Verizon is taking advantage of the augmented-reality (AR) trend to engage users with fun facts and Black Friday coupons in the form of “Easter eggs” hidden within the AR experience. According to AdWeek, the average view time of last year’s livestream was seven and a half minutes.

Have a great weekend!
