There’s a new exhibit at the DAI: Ubuhle Women: Beadwork and the Art of Independence. Now until September 10, you can visit this special exhibition showcasing an original form of bead art created by a community of women living in rural South Africa. The Dayton Art Institute is the first venue of the exhibition’s tour.

Research firm YouGov BrandIndex has surveyed U.S. millennial consumers to find out their favorite brands. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that some of the highest-ranking companies among millennials are digital powerhouses like YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat, proving that digital marketing is still a powerful way to reach this audience.

Check out this new augmented reality desktop

Although it seems like an idea lifted straight from science fiction, a project called Desktopography is bringing the “digital desk” concept to life. Using a depth camera and a pocket projector, digital applications such as a calculator or calendar can be projected onto the surface of a physical desk, enabling you to type and swipe much like a touchscreen. The goal is to break interaction out from our screens and merge it with our physical environment, creating a seamless blend of the two. While the AR desk is still in research, it’s expected to be available to consumers within five years.
