Preparing for the Ninth Wave

The beliefs, lores and superstitions of the sea always make interesting reading; often confronting existing knowledge, sometimes enriching and enhancing the mystique we feel for the wide open sea.

One of these superstitions holds that one wave will roll across the water that is far greater than those that have preceded it. Sailors call it the Ninth Wave. It is the awesome joining of stormy seas with powerful winds. There is no stronger force. To catch the Ninth Wave at just the right moment requires a truly special expertise in order to survive the ferocity of the wave.

In our various businesses, we, too, are subjected to confrontation with a Ninth Wave. We hope that our past performances in the marketplace will help us to ride out the turbulence. We trust that our customer relations are beyond reproach, that our products or services have delivered on the promise, that employees are truly our goodwill ambassadors, in deed as well as in word.

Of course, the use of advertising and PR (here’s the commercial) helps to prepare us to meet that challenge. Hopefully, your carefully planned and skillfully executed marketing communications will help you catch the mighty Ninth and ride it all the way to the safety of shore.
