Public Relations: Personal Touch Newspaper Builds Image with Dealers

How does a family-owned company compete successfully against corporate giants?

KK Motorcycle Supply does it by showing an active and personal interest in the entire industry, including dealers and cycle owners.

One of the tools in their advertising-public relations game plan is a quarterly newspaper written with a personal “we believe in you” touch written by Dwight Mitchell of our staff. The publication goes beyond the usual “house organ” approach, including stories saluting public service achievements by individuals, dealers, and state associations. Additionally, every edition carries news of activities to help improve the image of motorcyclists and racers with the public and the press. To encourage dealer membership in state associations and enhance KK’s goodwill with these important organizations, the current issue includes the name and address of each state association encouraging those dealers who do not belong to join up.

In addition to being sent to 5,000 dealers, the KK Quarterly is sent to editors, writers, and sports directors. Quite often, this leads to quotes and editorial features in national publications, all attributed to KK Motorcycle Supply.
