The Source of Creative Inspiration

Creative Inspiration is all around you.

Where does one find creative inspiration?  What is the secret to thinking up that next big idea?  Is it some mysterious gift or some deeply held mystic secret?  Is it a special potion or magical concoction you consume?   I don’t think so.  In fact, I believe that inspiration is all around us.  Generally, we are just too busy or too foolish to look for it.  Instead of thinking deeply about where and how we could improve things, we scramble from task to task, meeting to meeting, transaction to transaction, with head down – hell-bent on getting things done.  Getting things done is great, but occasionally we need to stop, take a breath, and take time to imagine if there might be a better way.

Creative inspiration is a decision.  It comes, not from some mystical otherworld, but from the careful and conscious observation of this world.  Creative inspiration is a combination of intention and attention.  Inspiration rarely yells out your name and forces itself upon you.  Nope, it generally hides right there, unnoticed in plain view and in broad daylight.  The source of creative inspiration is all around you.  You just have to stop and look every now and then.
