The Ohlmann Group Creative Brief: 3.5.2012

ON March 5, 2012

Time to get your creative juices flowing with another edition of The Ohlmann Group Creative Brief – our weekly creativity exercise.  This week’s exercise is called Bridge.  It works as follows.  Below is a list of 5 random words.  Choose 2 of them to be the ends of the bridge.  With the ends in place, the other three words then must connect to form a bridge.  Your job is to define the connection between each piece of the bridge as you make your way from the first word all the way to the last.

The Five Random words are:

  • Monkey
  • Bacteria
  • Desk
  • Necklace
  • Chocolate

If you were to simply go in the order of the words the ends of the bridge would be Monkey and Chocolate.  Starting with Monkey and moving across you might come up with the following:

Monkey and Bacteria – These go together because Monkey’s are wild animals that carry various types of bacteria.
Bacteria and Desk –  Desks are a common place to find bacteria.  (This is why my desk has a large bottle of hand sanitizer.)
Desk and Chocolate – People often hide chocolate inside of desk drawers as a secret treat or a way to fight off the afternoon blahs.
Chocolate and Necklace – These are both solid gift ideas for Valentines Day.

And thus, with all five words connected, we have our sample bridge.  You can switch up the order or make different connections in the same order.  Either way, give it a shot.  What creative connections can you make as you build your bridge.

Have a creative week!
