Your vote is your voice, and for new U.S. citizens, exercising this right for the first time is particularly empowering. This is why the Dayton League of Women Voters is committed to helping new citizens learn how to register to vote immediately following their naturalization ceremony.
Ohlmann Group volunteers were proud to help with these efforts by assembling folders filled with helpful voting registration information and resources for new citizens. We also learned about the Dayton League of Women Voters’ important work in our community!
The Dayton League of Women Voters was founded in May 1920, just months after the formation of the National LWV and the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. Since then, the League has continued to educate both women and men on the political issues that affect their lives and advocate for voting rights.
Thank you to the Dayton League of Women Voters for supporting new citizens and helping them register to vote. This is a good reminder for us all to check our voter registration status!
