Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) Dayton has provided community, comfort, and hope to families of critically ill or injured children since 1980.
Open 365 days a year, the Ronald McDonald House on Valley Street provides a resting place for families of sick or ill children with 14 private guest rooms at no cost to guests. Unfortunately, the facility has to turn away many families due to space constraints.
But soon, RMHC will have additional space to help more families. The facility is currently constructing a new 38,000 sq. ft. Ronald McDonald House with three floors, ample communal space, and an inviting outdoor recreation and respite space. Upon completion, the Ronald McDonald House will have 42 guest rooms designed to keep more families close.
As part of their free services, RMHC provides daily home-cooked meals provided by volunteers. A team of “chefs” from Ohlmann Group cooked a delicious dinner featuring a chicken casserole, green beans, salad, and blueberry cake.
In addition to the meals, RMHC provides on-site laundry, family programming, and play spaces, among other amenities.
RMHC has many volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups. You could prepare a hot meal like we did, prepare a craft or activity, or help keep the house clean and inviting.
RMHC is also looking for housewarming gifts from Amazon to help fill their new House with items for their kitchen, guest rooms, living room, laundry, and basement. This facility and its features are designed to support and soothe families while they focus on what truly matters, their child.
