Each night, more than 500 individuals seek shelter at St. Vincent de Paul Dayton. Of those individuals, more than 10 percent are typically children.

St. Vincent de Paul is a faith-based nonprofit that operates the only two 24/7 emergency shelters in the Dayton area. One shelter houses single women and families, and the other houses single men.

This February, members of the Ohlmann Group team volunteered at the shelter, helping to clean and organize shelter living spaces for the women and families who are staying there.

The St. Vincent de Paul shelters provide three meals each day, personal care items, and a case worker for guests who help them work toward stable housing.

How You Can Give Back

The need in the Dayton region is great. Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate items listed on the shelters’ Needs List. You can purchase these items and schedule a pick-up, or you can order items from the St. Vincent de Paul Amazon Needs list and have them shipped directly to the shelters at no additional cost.
  • Give a monetary gift. You can send a check or easily make a donation online.
  • Volunteer! On an annual basis, St. Vincent de Paul leans on more than 1,500 volunteers to support its guests.
  • Donate goods, furniture, or a vehicle. Your donations are sold at the St. Vincent de Paul Dayton thrift store or used by the shelter, but all gifts support St. Vincent de Paul’s emergency shelters, supportive housing programs, and more.

A small effort to give back can make a big difference in the lives of others. We were honored to spend some time with St. Vincent de Paul!
