Since the organization’s founding in 1978, NCCJ of Greater Dayton has been successfully opposing bias, bigotry and discrimination wherever it occurs throughout the region. One of the ways NCCJ is actively educating and empowering communities is through their annual Pride Rocks! event.
Pride Rocks! is a suicide prevention program promoting suicide prevention in the LGBTQ+ Community. At Pride Rocks!, participants can join in painting Pride-themed rocks with suicide prevention messaging, enjoy local meals from a food truck, learn from and connect with local providers, check out local vendors, and listen to LGBTQ+ musicians.
To help the NCCJ team prepare for this year’s event, volunteers from the Ohlmann Group team participated in stamping rocks with Ohio’s 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, which provides 24/7 free and confidential support for anyone in distress or in need of resources.
Following the event, NCCJ volunteers and community partners will help place the painted rocks around the community to spread hope, positivity, and awareness for available mental health resources.
Pride Rocks! is a free event that’s open to anyone and family-friendly.
When: Saturday, May 18, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Where: Levitt Pavilion Dayton (134 S Main St, Dayton, OH 45402)
Thank you to NCCJ for serving our community and raising awareness of suicide prevention resources.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call 988 for free and confidential support 24/7.
