It’s amazing what a warm meal can do for the human soul. That’s what House of Bread provides to hundreds of individuals in the Dayton region each week. The Dayton-based nonprofit serves approximately 200 lunches every day – without breaking for weather or holidays.
This January, a small but mighty group of Ohlmann Group volunteers helped in House of Bread’s busy kitchen preparing a hot meal from donated food items. We sliced fresh fruit and vegetables, snapped green beans, and brewed gallons of strong coffee.
At mealtime, we served a delicious and healthy lunch to guests facing hardship, sharing smiles and stories over a cup of coffee or juice for an hour or two. Many say their mealtime at House of Bread is the highlight of their day!
The House of Bread is vital to preventing hunger in our region, welcoming all, connecting them with additional resources, and treating them with dignity and respect. You can support House of Bread’s work just like we did by signing up to volunteer in the kitchen.
House of Bread also accepts financial donations and food or hygiene items included on this wish list. Together, we can make a difference in Dayton!
